University of Kansas Art and Copy Club William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications in Marketing & Advertising Business Directory

The mission of the KU Art Copy Club is to provide any KU student interested in the creative process in advertising a way to gain a greater understanding of the creative process and develop their creativity through projects, workshops, professional guest speakers and informational field trips. Future Activities: Although the club was founded recently, it already has planned field trips to agencies in Kansas City. The group also planned a spring break trip to Chicago for an Agency Crawl, which included visiting the Leo Burnett, and J. Walter Thompson agencies, the Chicago Tribune and several print houses. They have also worked closely with the KC Ad Club and the KC Art & Copy Club, allowing networking that can be beneficial to both professionals and students. They plan to videotape every guest speaker to have a video library in the Journalism Resource Center, not only for the use of club members but for anyone interested. They are also getting reels of promotions ad agencies have done. The club plans to invite guest speakers who work for a variety of agencies, ranging from small to large, and even freelancers. Another project will be a group that will work on developing their portfolios.
