Living Gold Press in Marketing & Advertising Business Directory

Living Gold Press is located on the edge of the Klamath River in beautiful, sparsely populated far northern California. The sister-owned company was formed in 1996 with the goal of publishing non-fiction books with an emphasis on regional topics. Jill Livingston and Kathryn Golden do the majority of the writing, photography, drawing, design, layout, and marketing themselves. They are part of a growing cadre of small publishers committed to quality and independence. The sibling team completed the popular Ribbon of Highway series in June, 2003, books that trace the entire route of old Highway 99 from Canada to Mexico. The Klamath River Bird Finder, a 304 page regional birding guide extensively researched by our friend Bob Claypole came out in April, 2004. This birding connection led to the 2005 publication of the third edition of Northwestern California Birds by Humboldt State University professor Stanley W. Harris. In 2004 Klamath River Access Guide, a handy guide for recreating along 150 miles of Californias second biggest river, came out. This project was partially funded by the JEDI (Jefferson Economic Development Council) Stewardship Fund. find out more about the fund! They also received a grant for their educational coloring book/tour guide A Coloring Tour of Siskiyou County, A Guide for the Whole Family, published in Nov. 2006. In 2003 the company took over the distribution of, and in 2006 the publishing of Mt. Shasta, Californias Mystic Mountain and also entered into a partnership with Azalea Creek Publishing to sell Common Dragonflys of California. Author Kathy Biggs created this wonderful, colorful pocket guide and also happens to be the sister of Bird Finder author Bob Claypole. Late in 2003 Living Gold Press started selling Mt. Shasta Sketchbook, the second in a three-part series drawn and written about our corner of California by Ft. Jones, CA resident John Jenott. Next up is the long awaited revision of That Ribbon of Highway II, Highway 99 from the State Capital to the Mexican Border. In 2005 we began to sell other historic highway related merchandise, such as Highway 99 hats, Lost Highways posters and the wonderful Gasoline Classic signed art prints by Jack Schmitt.
